While it may be illegal to deface traffic signals for a variety of reasons (violent car crashes), these stop signs feature a clever line or cliché that includes the word stop. They may not be the world's coolest bus stops, but they might make you think twice before rolling through an intersection.
It's hard to stop at every stop sign you see, especially if the sign's behind a bush or tall people crossing the street. Officials in Oak Lawn, IL tried to change things by modifying the city's stop signs to be a little more eye-catching. In the fall of 2007 they added one-liners like, "Stop means that you aren't moving." to their signage, but the Illinois Department of Transportation pointed out the changes breached safety standards and requested their removal. The signs were removed in April 2008.

My response to McAfee about Clipmarks

As most of you now know, McAfee has recently been advising people to use Clipmarks with 'extreme caution'.

I wanted to share my response here. More positive reviews from our users would help tremendously.

To post a review, you need to first registrater here http://bit.ly/7moCYE. I am very sorry to ask this of you.

Dear McAfee,

I'm Eric Goldstein, a member of the Clipmarks team. What i can say as a matter of fact is that some of the negative reviews below are complete lies. We have never served a pop-up ad... never! So anyone claiming they received pop-ups is lying. And the people who are saying there is malware on Clipmarks are referring to a tiny handful of clips posted by spammers that we immediately removed. We vigilantly monitor Clipmarks for suspicious, spammy posts by users and do our best to remove the posts and users immediately.

To have Clipmarks on this list is very harmful to our business . I can only hope that someone at McAfee will look into this asap and remove us from this "Extreme Caution" list.

Should Tax-Payers Fund Your (Mis)Adventures?

As the economy sours, public rescue costs leave a bitter taste in tax-payers mouth

A Mountain of Bills

Who should have to pay to rescue stranded climbers?

What's the cost of a life—or really, what's the cost of saving one? When climbers, hikers, skiers, and rafters get caught in tight situations and need to be found and rescued, the answer can be a large number of taxpayer dollars.
The Mount Hood search—which included recovery of a third climber who was found dead—has involved sheriff's deputies, a military helicopter, and staff from Portland Mountain Rescue, a local volunteer organization. Maureen McLaughlin, a public information officer at Alaska's Denali National Park, says a large search operation like the Mount Hood one could involve dozens of people, from rangers on the ground to pilots and spotters who scan high-resolution photographs pixel by pixel for clues.
public anger over costs has led several states to implement charges, often when officials determine that the rescuees have acted negligently.

Dance If You Love Breasts and Pink Gloves

You can help Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR by watching the video. Once this reaches 1,000,000 views they will be eligible for a large donation (including free mammograms for the community) from Medline, the manufacturer of the gloves.

Our employees put together this video to generate breast cancer awareness throughout our hospital system. We had a ton of fun putting this together and hope it inspires others to join in the cause
